Share links that open the right tab, point TechDocs at any folder, and delete teams with less risk

· 4 min read

You can send a colleague a link to the Favorites tab, or refresh a page, and land on the same view. Repositories that keep their docs in a subfolder can now show them in TechDocs, and the portal says why docs are missing when something is wrong. Deleting a team now takes a deliberate step. This release also fixes several page errors and visual problems.

Until now, most tabs forgot your choice when you refreshed the page, used the back button, or opened a shared link. The page always showed the first tab. The URL now holds the tab, for example /catalog?tab=favorites, so a copied link opens the same view for everyone.

These areas keep the selected tab in the URL:

  • Catalog and APIs, with the tabs All, Favorites, and Owned by me.
  • TechDocs, with the same three tabs.
  • Search, with All, Catalog, Documentation, and Confluence.
  • Plugins, with All, Enterprise, and Enabled.
  • The detail pages for agents, MCP servers, and skills.
  • Settings > Users, with All Users and Invited Users.

The default tab does not appear in the URL, so /catalog still opens All. An unknown tab value falls back to the default tab. A tab click does not add a history entry, so the back button still takes you to the previous page.

Catalog entity pages work a little differently. If the link has a tab, the page opens it. If it has none, the page opens the last tab you clicked for that entity. A link that someone shares with you does not change the tab you chose before. Cards on the Tech Landscape open an entity on Overview and leave your stored tab alone.

After you send an invitation in Settings > Users, the page opens the Invited Users tab, so you see the new invitation at once.

Show TechDocs for repositories with a different layout

TechDocs used to look for docs at the repository root. A repository with another layout showed broken docs and gave no reason.

Edit Entity now has a Docs path field. Enter the folder that holds mkdocs.yml, such as packages/api, or leave the field empty to use the repository root. When you save a new path, Venue.sh checks that the folder exists in the default branch. If the folder is missing, the save stops and the field says the folder was not found. If Venue.sh cannot reach the repository, the save goes through without the check. The form rejects a path that leaves the repository, such as one that starts with / or contains ...

A new path shows fresh docs right away. You do not wait for the old docs to expire.

When TechDocs has nothing to show, the page now gives the reason. It tells you, for example, that mkdocs.yml is missing from the docs folder, or that the folder mkdocs.yml points to was not found.

Delete a team on purpose

To delete a team, you now type its exact team name. The Delete Team button stays off until the name matches, and the match is case-sensitive. The dialog warns that the action is permanent and that the team's catalog entities become orphaned. It links to the catalog so you can review those entities first. Deleting an entity or a connection uses the same confirmation.

Review imports and tables with fewer surprises

The review step of an import shows Organization or Team in the audience column, so you can check who will see each entity before you confirm. Templates, TechDocs, and Catalog share one star column with a fixed width, and the star on Templates is fully visible.

On Import Entity, the close button takes you to the catalog instead of reloading the import page. The Tags column no longer leaves a gap, and the tags input has the same height as the other inputs. When you deselect a plugin in Edit Entity or Import Entity, its field values are removed. They used to stay hidden and get saved.

Other fixes

  • After you revoke an API key, a confirmation shows the name of the key.
  • Chips on the Announcements and Favorites widgets use the same grey.
  • The description on the entity About card uses the same size as the other fields.
  • The ⌘K hint in the search button no longer causes a page error on a Mac.
  • The 404 page is centered and no longer shows a page error.
