Search and navigation

Venue.sh gives you three complementary ways to move around: browse with the sidebar, quick find with Global search (⌘K / Ctrl+K), and deep search on the Search page when you need filters and tabs.

Global search is one dialog, not two tools. The same keyboard shortcut opens a command palette that can go to a dashboard destination or open a catalog entity, TechDocs page, or Confluence page you are allowed to see. Start with Global search for everyday jumps; open the Search page when you want to explore results in more detail.

Press ⌘K on Mac or Ctrl+K elsewhere to open Global search from anywhere in the dashboard. You can also click the search control in the header.

  1. Press ⌘K or Ctrl+K.
  2. Type what you want: a page name, a common alias, an entity name, or words from documentation.
  3. Use the arrow keys to highlight a result and press Enter to open it.

Press Escape or the same shortcut again to close the dialog without navigating.

Go to a destination​

Destination results are labeled Go to. They match sidebar pages and common aliases, so typing docs finds Tech Docs, tech stack finds Tech Landscape, audit finds Activity Log, and metrics finds Development Insights. Destination matches appear before content matches in the list.

If a destination is missing, either your role does not include read permission for it or the feature is not enabled for your organization. See RBAC.

Open Venue content​

Content results are labeled Open. Global search looks across indexed Venue content you can access:

  • Catalog - Components and other software catalog entities (respects catalog visibility for team-scoped entities).
  • TechDocs - Documentation published from connected repositories.
  • Confluence - Pages from spaces your organization indexes through the Confluence plugin, when that plugin is enabled.

Each content result shows its source (Catalog, TechDocs, or Confluence) and a short description when one is available.

Global search returns top matches quickly. For tabbed results, filters, and broader catalog or documentation search, use the Search page in the sidebar.

Search page​

The Search page is the full search workspace. Open it from the sidebar or choose Go to Search from Global search.

Use it to query across your organization's catalog, documentation, and related indexed content with filters and tabs. It suits longer research sessions; Global search suits quick jumps from any screen.

The sidebar groups destinations by area when you prefer to browse:

  • Developer portal - Home, Search, Catalog, APIs, Tech Docs, Tech Landscape, Templates
  • AI - Assistant, Agents, MCP Servers, Skills
  • Integrations - Connections, Imports, Plugins
  • Insights - Development Insights, Scorecards, Activity Log

The sidebar shows the same destinations Global search can Go to, limited by your role and enabled features.

Header controls​

The upper-right corner of every screen has:

  • Users & Teams - Manage people and teams. See Users and Teams.
  • Settings - Your account and organization configuration. See Settings.
  • Assistant sidebar - Open the Assistant next to whatever page you are on. See Assistant.
